Patch Issue Finally SolvedGM_Forge was right, it is DNS which is at fault to connect to patch server you need to change your entry for DNS server - go to 'Network Connections' control panel and click on your Local Area Connection (or just click on its icon in the tray if you have it showing there)
Click on Properties button and in the panel that pops up, scroll down the various protocols untill you see at bottom or near the bottom the entry 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)'
Click it to select it and press the Properties button just below and in the popup panel in the bottom section you have to have selected 'Use the folowing DNS server addresses:' and if you already have some DNS entries there, you have to change them (first write down your servers on piece of paper if you have some in there already) and then input in these two IPs that I got from the link below
Cisco (San Jose, CA, US)
64.102.255.44
128.107.241.185
I had to change both of mine (primary and alternate DNS) because changing just the primary allowed me to pach but gameguard then couldn't connect to its own update, once I overwrote both entries with these above I could log into game finally you can choose any other of the IPs given on that page (input them and close all the pannels and test mir and if it doesn't work try another one(s)) depending on your location, Europeans should google for 'public dns' to find some DNS servers in near location but in pinch you can use american servers just as well I guess it should be enough to have just the primary DNS entered but its safer to have some fallback with the alternate and if you still can't connect after changing DNS servers, go to Start menu and click Run and write in 'cmd' without quotes and press OK and in the Command Line Interface' panel write at the prompt 'ipconfig /flushdns' (again without quote marks) which will clear cached DNS entries from your PC and it will be forced now to do new fresh lookup from DNS servers.
