The combating system of the game is pretty simple. Use the pad to move, X to run, B to jump, and A to attack enemies. Pressing down on the pad with a shied allows you to block blow attacks.
While standing with a shield allows you to block normal attacks. Your primary weapon you start out with is your fists. Punch enemies to get money, health, and magic. But when you get a sword there is more that you can do to attack enemies. You slash the enemy with your swords. And when you learn the downward thrust you can jump in the air and then attack the enemy from below. This move also breaks certain blocks that have a down arrow on them. When you learn the upward thrust you can attack airwomen enemies. This move is also used to break blocks with an up arrow on them.
